BharatJal has set up small water plants (2000 Litres Per Hour) at multiple locations in Northern India. With three operational plants and seven e-rickshaws we have dispensed a total of four million litres of clean drinking water to 4.5 million people in Delhi & Saharanpur.

The Company delivers clean & affordable drinking water to consumers through a network of Water ATMs (Electric Mobile Delivery Vehicle). Through the entire process our emphasis is on ensuring that the water is not contaminated. This is achieved by sealing the reusable tanks at the factory to avoid contamination in transit.

BharatJal delivers water directly to the consumer in densely populated areas at a price point of Rs 5 per litre or Rs 2 per glass of 300 ml, compared to standard packaged water of Rs 20 per litre.

The Problem

67% OF INDIA’S POPULATION LIVES IN RURAL AREAS AND ONLY 7% OF THEM HAVE ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER

India’s rural poor are highly vulnerable to the consequences of extreme weather conditions and climate change. 27 out of 35 states and union territories in India are disaster-prone and the poorest and the most marginalised bear the brunt of weather events and climate disasters. A large portion of the population find it hard to adapt to changing conditions.

Only 26.9 million out of 167.8 million households (16%) in rural India have piped water, according to data provided by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation to the Rajya Sabha on February 6, 2017.

The Solution

The Company, with its product ‘Bharat Jal’ plans to set up small (2000LPH) water plants at multiple locations in the Delhi NCR Region and supply water through Electric Mobile Delivery Vehicle (EMDV).

Bharat Jal, with its sifting process and clean water technology aims to be able to take water directly to the end customer through mobile vending machines to cut and control the level of contamination. Through clean yet affordable drinking water travelling to the customer instead of the other way round, Bharat Jal will be a company catering to only the real needs and wants of the people, cutting through various levels of bureaucracy.
